Dr. Dennis Norem made his weekly visit to the show to give us the latest on the coronavirus, COVID-19, and the vaccine rollout.

For approximately the 30th straight week, Dr. Norem wanted to initially focus on encouraging people to get the vaccine if they have not already. I fully realize that is getting to be a broken record for some people but it remains the safest way out of the pandemic according to literally every medical professional we have ever talked to on the show.

You can listen to the whole interview here.

Back To School

It is back to school week for thousands across the Rockford area and there are just about as many opinions on what the guidelines should be on a return to in person learning. Should kids and staff mask? Should students over the age of 12 get vaccinated? Should schools require vaccinations for those over the age of 12? Is there any scenario that would trigger remote learning for some schools?

We went through most of those questions today with Dr. Norem. I'll give you the condensed answer from Dr. Norem. Masks should be used until infection rates decline and if your child is over the age of 12 and medically eligible for a vaccine then they should get one.
Dr. Norem also brought us some new information on who might be first in line for a booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. Basically those in higher risk demographics or those caring for them could be eligible for another vaccine shot in as little as a few months.
We once again learned a lot from Dr. Norem. We thank him for his time and look forward to his visit next Monday at 7:05 on 1440 WROK.
