Should More Illinois Movie Theaters Offer Vaccinated-Only Screenings?
Some might consider it a controversial decision but, regardless, an Illinois movie theater has made the decision to offer screenings for vaccinated audiences only.
While Chicago's vaccine requirement continues to be in effect could there be an alternative to keep happy those who are and aren't vaccinated?
Effective January 3, any individual age 5 and older will be required
to show proof of vaccination to dine indoors, visit gyms, or enjoy
entertainment venues where food or drink are being served.
People aren't happy about the mandate, not all, but some.
Whether or not Chicago businesses that are following the city's mandate could see a decline in business is up for debate. Customers who say they will never return because the bar, restaurant, or store is following the mandate is naive. Owners who are enforcing the vaccine requirement are likely doing so to keep their doors open.
Could the solution be for businesses to allow some of their business hours to be open solely for individuals and families who are vaccinated?
A movie theater in Illinois is doing just that.
Marcus Theatres has begun offering movie screenings solely for vaccinated movie-goers, including children. They shared this while enforcing their promise to provide choices including movie options, seats, and snacks.
For those interested, we will offer an afternoon and evening showtime for select movies in which vaccination is required.
Guests attending these shows will be asked to present a vaccination card or a photo of the card and a photo ID and must be two weeks out from the 2nd dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccination shot, or two weeks out from the Johnson & Johnson vaccination shot.
This will only be an option at select theaters within their company, Bloomington, Illinois is one of them.
How will it work?
Guests will know which screenings are "vaxx only" by looking at the movie title, i.e. Prognosis Negative (VAX REQUIRED).
Negative tests will not work for admission to vaccinated-only showings.
Guest either need the actual vaccination card or a photo of the vaccination card, as well as a photo ID.
