It's very easy to hop onto Amazon or Walmart.com and do all of your Christmas shopping without even batting an eye. You can probably finish within a half hour. Have you ever thought about the effect on the community though?

As it's become easier and easier to buy from corporate companies, it's also become harder and harder for the local places to stay open. Those local places are the lifelines of the community. They get involved with charitable donations and sponsor your kids soccer teams, but if we don't support them, they can't help us.

Here's how you can help them and get a little relief this holiday season. Business.org is giving you a chance to "Get Paid to Shop Local For The Holidays". One lucky person will be picked to ditch corporate America and do all their holiday shopping locally. You have until November 27th to sign up. Sign up HERE.

I love shopping locally especially for gifts. It's something unique that isn't mass produced and usually tells a story. Nobody asks where you got that candle holder from in your living room because they've all seen it online, but add one unique piece to the mix and the questions never stop. Find those diamonds in the rough this year, have some fun searching, and hopefully you can also get some extra cash in your pocket along the way!
