Saturday morning many local employees learned (through a Facebook post) they would be out of a job.

ServiCom announced it was closing two Rockford-area locations in a Facebook post just after 7 a.m. early Saturday morning. Many employees would be laid off later that afternoon.

Today, we will begin the process of informing employees about these changes. We value our people and for those who will be leaving, we thank you for all you have contributed to ServiCom.

ServiCom was frequently hiring new employees including within the last few weeks and, as you can imagine, many people were completely blindsided when they learned of the layoffs. In an interview with WIFR, one former employee described the reactions of many upon hearing the news.

It was disappointing and sad to see other peoples and their reactions of how they felt and some people were breaking into tears and some people were angry and some people would have been appreciative if they were informed that this may have happened so that they would have got time to get jobs in the future," Jalen Robinson, former employee at ServiCom.

In ServiCom's message, there were no mentions of re-hires only that the Machesney Park office would remain in operation.
