Motorists should prepare to take a detour beginning on November 10 as a busy Rockford throughfare will close for water main work.

Temporary Road Closure Announced for Rural Street

According to a City of Rockford press release, Rural Street will be closed to through traffic between Hillsdale Street and North Prospect Street beginning on Monday (11/10).

The closure will begin at 7 am on Monday to allow work crews to complete maintenance and repair work to the water main.

If weather conditions cooperate, the closure is expected to only last through the end of Monday, November 11.

Detour Routes and Access Information

During the closure, all traffic will be detoured to Crosby Street using Summit Street and North Prospect Street, according to the press release.

Local access for residents will remain open in the construction area, and all businesses located along the closed street will continue normal operations during the one-day project.

Safety Reminder for Drivers

The City of Rockford is urging drivers to observe posted detour signs and reduced speed limits in the work zone area on Rural Street beginning Monday (11/10).

Motorists should stay alert for construction workers and equipment when driving through the area where water main work is being completed.
