Last year over a thousand women hit the streets of Rockford for the inaugural Rockford Women's March, and  residents will be hitting the streets again this Saturday, January 20th, but this year's message seems to be a little different.

Last year women all over the country were marching in the wake of President Trump's election for the continuation of women's rights, but the issue has grown to a whole new level due to the #MeToo movement and the number of sexual misconducts that have been revealed in the last year.

I refuse to talk politics, but I will say this; there has never been a more vital time for women to step up, let their voices be heard and have each other's backs.

It doesn't matter if you are male or female, want to take a stand against crime and domestic violence in Rockford, or are just overcome with worry for the future generation of women, you are invited to join the march this Saturday.

Here's the details you need to know if you go:

  • When: Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Where: March will begin at the Rockford City Market Pavillion on Water St. and will end at Second First Church on N Church St.
