Rockford’s ‘Festival of Frights’ Starts Tonight
During a year where social-distancing is key and drive-thru events are the hottest ticket in town, Rockford's 'Festival of Frights' is definitely something you need to put on this year's Halloween to-do list!
In case you have forgotten, Rockford's Sinnissippi Park isn't just home to lights and holiday displays during the Christmas season, it also dresses up in its spooky best for Halloween too!
Volunteers have been hard at work the last few weeks creating creepy scenes and amazing straw sculptures throughout Sinnissippi Park, and as of 6 p.m. tonight, (Friday, October 23), it will officially be open for your viewing pleasure!
The thing I love most about the Festival of Frights is that all monetary donations received from the community help to buy Halloween costumes for kids in need each year, and thanks to COVID-19, the amount of kids and families in need this Halloween is greater than ever.
Please make sure your family is not too busy oohing and aahing over the Festival of Frights displays that you forget to leave some bills in the donation box you'll come across during the tour. Not only will your donation help other children, but it will help insure this Halloween tradition will continue in Rockford for years to come.
A few more frightfully fun things I need to mention; the Festival of Frights will be glowing daily from 6 to 8 p.m. through Halloween, and if you swing by on November 1st to donate your past Halloween costumes, you will get a free treat!
Happy Halloween, Rockford...I'll see you in the Festival of Frights drive-thru line tonight!
