A 34-year-old Rockford woman has been identified as the victim in a deadly shooting on the city's south side early Tuesday morning (9/30).

Victim Identified in Early Morning Shooting

Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Rockford as 34-year-old Katlyn Acord.

According to the press release, a call was made around 6:10 am on Tuesday (9/30) that a woman was found inside a vehicle in the 900 block of Kishwaukee Street.

Rockford Police Officers, along with personnel from the Rockford Fire Department, responded and discovered Ms. Acord unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound.

Coroner Confirms Cause of Death

The Winnebago County Coroner's Office was called to the scene on Kishwaukee Street around 6:40 am and pronounced Ms. Acord deceased at 6:48 am.

Following an autopsy, the Coroner's Office confirmed that Ms. Acord died as a result of a gunshot wound.

Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding her death in cooperation with Rockford Police Detectives, according to the press release.
