Rockford Toy Theft Ring Broken Up, Suspects Apprehended

Stealing toys, really? It's Rockford's real life Grinch, or should we say Grinches who stole the toys, one has been been caught, the others have not.

The Rockford Police Department has broken up a toy theft ring that consisted of three Rockford and one Machesney Park woman  According to police, over the past several months RPD detectives and Community Services were investigating an organized group of suspects who were committing multiple retail thefts at the East State Street Toys R Us.

According to RPD:

The investigation revealed that the suspects were fraudulently exchanging stolen merchandise for Toys R Us gift cards. Based on information provided by Toys R Us security and loss prevention personnel, detectives were able to identify several suspects involved in the thefts. The results of the investigation were reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The individual that has been arrested is :

  •  Allie Shoemaker 25 years old Rockford, IL, She is charged with Retail Theft

Police are still looking for the other three women:

  • Kandie Hill 45 years old Machesney Park, IL
  • Jennifer Lowe (Dreher) 39 years old Rockford, IL
  • Heather Derrickson 27 years old Rockford, IL

it is important to note that charges against all of the suspects are merely accusations and not evidence of their guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases they are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
