Rockford Ranks as One of America’s Least Educated Cities

The nationwide ranking of America's Least educated cities are out and unfortunately, Rockford made this dubious list, but just how bad was our ranking?

Wallethub put together research to determine the ranking of the best educated and worst educated cities in the United States. The data was based on 11 key metrics pulled from the Top 150 metropolitan markets in the country. Data includes:

• Share of adults aged 25 and older with a bachelor’s degree or higher
• quality of the public school system
• gender education gap

Rockford ranked as the 24th least educated city in America  (#127 out of 150).

What Illinois cities performed better?

• Chicago
• Elgin
• Naperville
• Peoria

All four ranked higher than Rockford.
