Rockford Police Stepping Up Patrols At Football Games This Week
Although the gun violence that erupted near Auburn High School last Friday had nothing to do with the football game in progress, Rockford Police aren't taking any chances this week.
According to WREX, Rockford Police announced at Monday's City Council meeting that "extra officers will patrol the football stadiums at Auburn High School and Guilford High School" this Friday night.
Rockford Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Ehren Jarrett recently told WIFR;
I feel completely confident that our security precautions we already have in place are sufficient for the games...
We are not going to let some poor behavior in our neighborhoods get in the way of a great experience for all our families and student athletes.
Both RPS 205 and the Rockford Police Department want students, families and football fans to know that their safety is of highest importance, and that they should all feel safe going out to cheer on their teams Friday night.
