
Rockford Police Traffic Stop Leads to Drug-Related Arrest
Rockford Police SCOPE officers conducted a traffic stop on the city's northside on Tuesday that ended up with the arrest of an Illinois man.
Significant Seizure Made During Routine Traffic Stop
According to a Rockford PD press release, members of SCOPE made a stop just after 5 pm on Tuesday (1/21) in the area of Glenwood and Rockton.
With the assistance of a Rockford Police K-9, officers recovered over two pounds of suspected cannabis, chocolate bars believed to contain psilocybin (mushrooms), and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Driver Arrested and Charged
Eurel Wilford, 28, of Rockford, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was taken into custody where he is lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
Following a review by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, Wilford was charged with the following:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Possession with Intent to Deliver Cannabis
Investigation Remains Ongoing
Rockford Police reported via the press release that additional charges or arrests may follow as the investigation continues.

Authorities also reminded the public that charges are merely accusations, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
