Stolen guns were found during a recent chase by Rockford Police that ended with a crash.

Vehicle Flees Traffic Stop in Rockford

According to the press release, SCOPE officers with the Rockford PD were attempting to pull a vehicle over on Friday evening (6/20) around 7 pm near Broadway and 25th Street.

The vehicle had fled from police previously and now took off once again, but officers were able to successfully deploy the StarChase GPS tracker to monitor where the vehicle was traveling.

Crash and Arrests at Circle K and Broadway

A short time later, Rockford Police reported the fleeing vehicle had crashed into another car near Broadway and Parkside before continuing into the Circle K parking lot at 3819 Broadway.

All occupants of the vehicle were detained at the scene, according to Rockford PD. Several were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Loaded Weapons and Stolen Gun Recovered

SCOPE officers recovered three loaded handguns inside the vehicle, according to the press release.

One gun reportedly had an extended magazine with a laser/light attachment, and another one was reported stolen from Beloit, Wisconsin. Ammunition was also recovered during the search.

Multiple Charges File, Including for Juveniles

The Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office has authorized the following charges against the individuals allegedly involved in this incident:

  • Juvenile Male, 17, Rockford (lodged in Juvenile Detention) : Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, No Valid FOID (2)
  • Juvenile Male, 17, Rockford: Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by Gang Member, Possession of Ammunition, No Valid FOID
  • Jasmine Gatch, 18, Elkhorn, WI (lodged in County Jail): Aggravated Fleeing (3), Leaving the Scene of an Accident, No valid Driver’s License/Insurance
  • Tarrel Gardner, 18, Belvidere (lodged in County Jail): Aggravated Possession of a Weapon (2),  Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by Gang Member
