
Rockford Police Arrest Suspect in Kishwaukee Street Shooting
Rockford Police have a suspect in custody after an alleged shooting in a business on the city's south side.
Incident Overview
RPD Officers responded around 11:30 am this past Sunday (3/16) to the 2200 block of Kishwaukee Street for a report of gunshots at a business in the area.

According to a Rockford Police Department press release, the suspect in the shooting reportedly entered the store on Kishwaukee and engaged in a verbal altercation with the store clerk.

The suspect then pulled out a firearm and fired a single round through the bulletproof glass surrounding the checkout counter before fleeing the scene on foot.
Suspect Identification and Arrest
The Rockford Police Department's Violent Crime Detectives investigated the incident and identified 24-year-old Lashaun Washington of Rockford as the suspect in the shooting.

The Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the case and approved charges against Washington, and on Monday (3/17), detectives executed a search warrant at his residence.
Two firearms were recovered during the search of Washington's residence, one of which had been reported stolen out of the State of Alabama, according to the press release.
After initially attempting to hide, Lashaun Washington was arrested and booked into the Winnebago County Jail.
Charges Filed
24-Year-Old Lashaun Washington of Rockford faces multiple charges, including:
- Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm
- Aggravated Assault
These charges are merely accusations, according to the press release, and all individuals are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
