
Rockford Man Arrested After Robbery, Aggravated Battery Incidents
Law enforcement arrested a man who was allegedly involved in robberies around the city in February.
Two Rockford Robberies in February
According to a Rockford Police Department press release, officers responded to a reported robbery on February 4 at a business in the 3700 block of State Street around 1:19 pm when a male suspect pretended to make a purchase.
Once the clerk opened the cash register, the suspect shoved the clerk to the ground and proceeded to take money from the register before fleeing the scene.

Just 10 days later on February 14, a similar incident occurred on Charles Street around 7:41 pm, when a suspect jumped over the counter at a business in the 1000 block of Charles.
According to the report, the suspect grabbed money as the clerk rang up the customer, and to avoid physical confrontation, the clerk stepped away allowing the suspect to take money before running from the store.
Police Arrest Suspect from Rockford
Following an investigation by the Rockford Police Department's Violent Crime Detectives, the suspect was identified as 29-year-old Christian Pedro Medrano.
After reviewing the evidence, the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office authorized charges of robbery, aggravated battery, and theft against Medrano, who was arrested on Friday (2/21) and remains in the Winnebago County Jail.

The charges against Medrano are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, according to the RPD press release.
