An arrest has been made in connection with a June hit-and-run that injured a local teenager.

Teen Struck While Riding Bicycle

On Friday, June 20, 2025, around 6 pm, Rockford Police responded to a reported hit-and-run at the intersection of N. 2nd Street and Ethel Avenue, near the entrance to Nicholas Conservatory.

According to the press release, when RPD officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a 15-year-old female bicyclist had been struck by a vehicle that had fled the scene.

The teen was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries sustained in the hit-and-run.

Suspect Identified and Arrested

After a joint investigation by the Rockford Police Department's Traffic and Intel Units, law enforcement was able to identify the suspected driver as 32-year-old Tyrone Cochran of Rockford, Illinois.

After reviewing the case, the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office authorized the following criminal charges against Cochran:

  • Failure to Report an Accident Involving Personal Injury
  • Driving on a Suspended License
  • Outstanding Warrants

Cochrane is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, according to the RPD press release.
