Rockford Hockey Club Celebrates a Groundbreaking Win for Young Female Players
If you know a girl in the Rockford area who has always wanted to play hockey, her time to shine is coming soon with the Rockford Hockey Club.
Rockford Hockey Roots
When I was young, I often thought about playing hockey, primarily because my brother played from age five through high school with the Rockford Hockey Club.
I spent more weekends than I can count sitting on freezing cold bleachers watching my brother play, and wishing I could be a part of the action too.
My parents weren't opposed to me playing hockey. In fact, it was a long-running joke that I would play more aggressively than my brother, but as I grew older they were concerned about how I would fare as the only girl on an all-boys team.

Don't get me wrong, girls can definitely handle playing hockey with boys, and I know several who have and still do, but it would be nice if Rockford had an all-girls hockey team to play for...and soon they will!
Rockford Hockey Club to Begin Rostering All-Girls Teams
For the first time ever, the Rockford Hockey Club has officially been approved to form all-girls teams, and this is awesome news!
Girls in Rockford will soon have a clear, local path to competitive hockey and will no longer have to travel to other parts of the state or Wisconsin to find a team to play for.
If you’ve got a daughter who’s even a little bit curious about hockey, this is your moment. Attend the informational meeting being held at Carlson Ice Arena on March 19 at 5:45 p.m.
Rockford girls, your time on the ice is here, and it's been a long time coming.
