There are some sure signs of spring and warmer weather around the Forest City including the opening of local ice cream joints, the sound of boats motoring up and down the Rock River, and the annual community garage sale in Churchill's Grove.

Date for the Annual Churchills Grove Garage Sale is Set

Signs are up along Harlem Boulevard in the historic Churchill's Grove neighborhood as the 38th annual community garage sale is planned for Saturday, May 6.

Every year on the first Saturday in May, shoppers and bargain hunters from around the Rockford region come into this tree-lined neighborhood for what is described as a "cross between a flea market and a neighborhood block party."

The garage sales around the neighborhood will be rain or shine from 9 am to 3 pm on May 6 and will feature block after block of treasures.

A concession area with tables and chairs, along with porta-potties will be set up on Sherman Street between Harlem Blvd and Camp Avenue.

Can you sell at the Garage Sale if not a Churchill's Grove resident?

According to the Churchill's Grove website, all residents of the neighborhood can register for the garage sale for $10 if you're an association member and $15 if you're not.

Non-residents who use the garage of a resident to sell their items are charged a $20 fee.
