Rockford is about to benefit from a major state investment that's set a goal of driving economic growth and job creation in our region.

Major Investment Boosts Rockford’s Economic Future

Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) just announced a total of $31 million in Regional Site Readiness Program awards.

According to a press release, the City of Rockford secured a grant of $2.5 million to enhance infrastructure for future industrial development.

Strengthening Infrastructure for Business Growth

The grant will support the development of Integrity Road and the installation of a water main at the southeast corner of the IL-2 and US-20 Interchange site.

Improvements will make the area more attractive for industrial businesses, which will bring new companies, jobs, and better economic opportunities for Rockford residents.

A Strategic Plan for Job Creation

By being proactive and improving infrastructure, the project sets the stage for future industrial expansion in Rockford which strengthens our region's position as a growing hub for industry and commerce.

The City, in collaboration with Region 1 Planning Council, submitted a strong application aimed at increasing this site’s attractiveness for business growth and investment. The investment is part of Illinois’ 2024 Economic Growth Plan, which prioritizes site readiness to attract industrial businesses across the state, according to the press release.
