The season of giving is alive and well in Rockford. This year more than ever it was important that the community really come together and support each other going into 2021. One of the big Rockford events that's needed some local love this past year is Rockford City Market.

At risk of closing, they asked the community for some support. And the 815 has been showing up in some really cool ways. According to WIFR -

The Rock River Development Partnership received a matching donation of $15,000 from some anonymous donors in their efforts to raise funds to help with the shortfall from the 2020 season of the Rockford City Market.

How incredible is that? Every single donation made this time of year to anywhere is important. But when people make these big donations and do it anonymously, it seriously sounds like something out of a Hallmark movie.

Executive Director of the RRDP said -

We are extremely grateful for the incredible generosity of these special friends of the Market as well as the many community members who have already donated. We encourage those who are able to contribute to the fundraising campaign so that we can reach our goal. Any amount is welcome and appreciated.

So what's the money they've raised so far looking like? The Rockford City Market had an initial goal of $50,000. This match could help meet or beat the goal as it will double all donations up to $15,000. The total funds raised to date are $23,610.

We’re very excited to announce that we have received an anonymous donation from some incredibly generous friends!!...
