Burglary at Rockford BMX Prompts Plea For Community Help

Rockford BMX was burglarized over the weekend, and now the public is determined to help find the persons responsible.

For those that are unaware, BMX racing has become a pretty big deal in the Rockford area, primarily thanks to Rockford BMX, which was started in 1977 by the Jaycees of Rockford.

Bicycle racing is something I have never done, but my brother, niece, and nephew are hardcore into it, and I've only heard amazing things about the Rockford BMX organization and the people who run it...

Rockford BMX's facility is located at 4950 Safford Road, and on Saturday, May 17, it was burglarized...possibly by a fellow racer or racers.

Rockford BMX Burglarized

This past weekend Rockford BMX hosted Illinois State Qualifier races, and it appears someone involved with the sport decided that was a good time to burglarize the facility...

This is infuriating, especially because it appears the robbers knew what was sitting in that building and what the most valuable equipment to take was.

After Rockford BMX shared what had happened, fellow racing families flooded Facebook with condolences and pleas to share photos of the items stolen:

You need to post pictures/videos right now. Only chance to catch who did this is gonna be with the public’s help!

 

This is disgusting! Do you have camera footage? If you do, you should post the pictures! Might help identify the thief.

 

Evan here from Paymaster PAWN & Jewelers. Any pictures serial numbers etc you can send me I can post at both our stores. As much info as possible would be best. We just returned a $3000 snap on scanner to Auburn High School a month ago after calling the cops when it came through our doors. They aren't items we normally take but would love to do what we can if by chance we do see them.
