A nearly month old video has just been released by the Illinois State Police showing a group of Rockford area people and others helping to save a drowning woman.

Police tell MyStateline.com, "on August 3rd around 3:18 p.m., a Libertyville woman was traveling on I-90 when she lost control of her vehicle on the Route 47 exit ramp and became submerged in a retention pond."

That's when a group of people pulled their vehicles over and sprang into action.

Looking at the video, you can see people entering the water to pull the woman out of the car. Others called 911 to report the accident, while some performed CPR to help save the unnamed woman's life.

MyStateline.com listed those who helped. They are:

  • Donald Hathaway from Machesney Park
  • Corporal Nathan Jennings from Machesney Park
  • Matthew Worden from Belvidere

There are others too. People Sycamore, Hampshire, Aurora, Margengo, Gilberts, and Sandwich all pitched in to save a drowning woman's life.

Every one of those people deserves to be treated like heroes and honored as such. These are the kinds of selfless acts that will help restore your faith in humanity.
