Please forgive me for the news I am about to share with you.

This morning I got served the perfect proof that we are all desperate for good news during this pandemic. Every large event we look forward to every summer is being cancelled for 2020. We can't go to public pools or concerts, we can't go to baseball games, in short, this summer SUCKS.

In one hour alone I saw 7 of my friends on Facebook share this Boone County Fairgrounds post, and I'll admit my heart went all a flutter when I first saw it too....then I took a closer a look.

First off, the Boone County Fair that takes place at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Belvidere, Illinois announced on June 3 that the fair was cancelled for 2020. They can't say "just kidding" after an announcement like that...or can they?

Secondly, Belvidere's Boone County Fair takes place in August, not July, and I highly doubt their "just kidding" statement would involve moving the fair to an earlier date as opposed to a later one.

Thirdly, and this is the big one, the Boone County Fair referenced in the above post takes place in Boone, Iowa which is about 5 hours from here.

I truly hate to be the party-pooping, dream crusher here, but the silver lining in this sad story is that there is in fact a Boone County Fair happening in 2020, complete with carnival rides, fair food and entertainment... you just need to take a 5 hour drive to enjoy it. Perhaps the road trip is worth it? I'll leave that decision up to you....
