It seems like it isn't very often we read positive and inspiring news when it comes to those who have a hand in government. In this case, a Rockford alderman is a reminder of how important their impact can be on a local level. This week's Hometown Hero is Rockford Alderman (ninth ward), Bill Rose.

Here's the nomination we received from Aaron P., of Rockford.

When I heard about this award I thought to myself “Who do I know that would make a great hometown hero? “. The person that immediately came to mind was Bill Rose. I went to college with Bill at Rockford University and ever since I’ve known him he has been so passionate about helping and advocating for others. Years later, I worked with Bill as he was running for alderman of Rockford. As alderman, Bill recently hosted an event where he was able to raise money and donate bicycles to children on the west side of Rockford. I was able to film part of this event for Bill and I was in awe of the amazing impact this was having on the kids. They were able to leave that event with their very own bike and helmet! The smiles and happiness coming from those kids was amazing to see. And it was equally great to the community coming together for the kids. This is the kind of person Bill is and I’m excited to see his impact continue.

As a Q98.5 Hometown Hero, Bill will receive a $100 Amazon gift card thanks to Gustafson's Furniture & Mattress. Although we're certain he won't spend it on himself, whatever he uses it for will bring joy to someone, and that's what life is all about.
