Sure, sometimes getting something delivered is a necessity, but when you really break it down is it worth the price?

Let's all take a trip back to the 1990s. Life was great, but the only thing we EVER got delivered was pizza.

Maybe a salad or breadsticks, but that was always with a pizza. It was pizza or nothing.

The world has changed about a million and five ways since the 1990s and especially once we faced a worldwide pandemic. Ordering food is just a regular way of life, any food any time.

We can even do it on our phones and track the delivery second by second. Kind of bananas if you think about it like that.

I was in NEED of Portillo's on Saturday and my go-to order is a chopped salad with no cheese and no onion and a large cheese fries.

Did I need it delivered or could I go get it? I spent hours deciding. No really, I did, ask my friend Lori.

I typed up my order in three different delivery apps to see how different the same items would ring in.

Quite a difference!

From $22 to $30 depending on what app I used, Uber Eats and Door Dash were pretty close in price and Grub Hub was by far the most expensive.

The subtotal was the same the whole time though, it was always $16.09.

So I got in my car and trekked a few miles away to Portillo's where I was pleasantly surprised to see that my bill was less than $12, which I don't have a picture of, but believe me, it was less than $12 and I was ASTONISHED.

The moral of the story is, not only are you saving the delivery cost by getting it yourself, the prices are lower in person too... but you know what sometimes delivery is the only thing you want and if that's the case, totally pay extra.
