One of America’s Most Charming Main Streets is in Illinois
Need a nostalgia trip? You won't need a time machine to do so. Leave the Delorean at home because you can use your regular vehicle to get there.
In a recent story shared by Redbook titled 30 Nostalgic Photos of Main Street in Towns Across America, they look at some of the best little towns in the US.
While scrolling I had a feeling I was going to see this place that we have covered for you a few different times and I was right.
Smack dab in the middle of the slideshow of all these towns from coast to coast sits Galena, Illinois.
Main Street in Galena Illinois is better-known by it's memorable nickname: Helluva Half-Mile.
I had no idea that's what Galena's Main Street is referred to as but I'm here for it.
Besides the great nickname, Galena is an excellent town to visit for a day trip, especially now.
The Christmas season is really when things get taken to another level in Galena, where most of the action takes place on or around the "Helluva Half-Mile."
While most of the big Christmas events have already passed for 2021, there are still a few things left to do to celebrate the holidays in Galena.

That said, you can always just grab something to eat and do a little shopping. Honestly, it's one of my favorite things to do when I get some free time.
Gather the wife, maybe the kids, and head up to Galena for the day. I kind of wish I could go there right now.
Maybe Redbook is right? I'm feeling nostalgic for that Main Street as we speak.
