Illegal Meat Triggers Serious Biohazard Scare at O’Hare International Airport

The CDC had to be called to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend because of something they found in a passenger's luggage, and now I have so many questions.

Items It Is Illegal to Fly With

We all know that you can't fly with weapons in your luggage or too much liquid in your carryon, but did you know it's illegal to fly with meat too?

I think common sense would tell us that traveling long distances with raw meat is never a good idea, and one passenger from Africa recently found this out the hard way at O'Hare International Airport, AND they put a lot of lives in danger by doing so.

Raw African Bushmeat Found in Luggage at O'Hare International Airport

According FOX 32 Chicago, CDC and custom agents were called to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago over meat found in the luggage of a passenger traveling from Africa. While I think we can all agree this sounds disgusting, the real problem lies with what kind of meat they found...it was RAW African Bushmeat, which is illegal to bring into the United States, and was covered in MAGGOTS!

Bushmeat is described by the CDC as; "raw or minimally processed meat that comes from wild animals in certain regions of the world, including Africa and other areas, and may pose a communicable disease risk."

FYI, one of the "disease risks" the CDC is referring to is...EBOLA!

Here is how things went down after a K9 officer alerted to the luggage on May 25, 2024 at O'Hare...

Any traveler who brings bushmeat into the United States could be fined up to $250,000, but there is no word if this passenger, (who came back to claim the luggage), was issued a fine...or just a stern reprimand.

Either way...I'm completely grossed out.
