Mercyhealth is on the path to opening a brand new hospital in Crystal Lake after Monday's decision in the Second District Appellate Court. The nearly $100 million project will include a 24/7 emergency room that current residents of Crystal Lake don't have access to, private inpatient and intensive care beds, operating rooms, and ancillary services according to WREX. It will be able to provide these services to over 60,000 residents in Crystal Lake and nearby areas.

Construction on the project isn't expected until the Spring of 2020 and is scheduled to run through 2021. The effects on the community though should be highlighted as well. With the construction of the new hospital and medical office buildings, new jobs should be coming to the area which only helps in bringing in more money to the community. More money in the community turns into more opportunities for many smaller businesses to thrive, which keeps injecting money into the local economy. Not to mention the people who have to build the hospital and medical office building.
