Rockford travelers will soon have two new flight destinations.

Today, officials from the Chicago Rockford International Airport are expected to make the announcement.

One of the destinations will be to Fort Collins, CO. The Rockford Register Star reports that Mike Dunn, executive director of the Rockford airport will share details of the new routes at a news conference later this afternoon at the airport.

The Fort Collins, is about 50 miles away from Denver. This route will be flown by Elite Elite Airways. Flights would commence on August 1st would take place on:

  • Monday
  • Thursday
  • Friday

Flights will land at Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport.

Routes between Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport and RFD, beginning Aug. 1, according to a Colorado newspaper report. Fort Collins is about 50 miles north of Denver and home to Woodward Inc., which will host a July 1 ribbon cutting at its new, $300 million aircraft fuel systems plant in Loves Park.

The second destination has not been revealed.

 

The Denver area has always been a popular destination for stateline area travelers. RFD previously provided service to Denver from 2011-2013 with Frontier Airlines.

Currently, RFD passengers have a choice of eight destinations:

  • Fort Myers
  • Orlando
  • Tampa
  • Las Vegas
  • Phoenix
  • Cancun
  • Puerto Vallarta
  • Punta Cana
