New Bings Drive-In Owners Announce Name Change, Renovation Plans

Earlier this week, we shared the news Bings ownership was changing hands.

We had no idea the family that bought the longtime Rockford staple would identify themselves and their plans for the restaurant quite so quickly.

The owners of Salamone's in Cherry Valley snatched up Bings Drive-in shortly after the Gasparini family announced their intention to sell the business.

However, Benny and Rosalie Salamone are planning to do a little more than just run Bings Drive-In, 3613 South Main Street Rockford.

According to Bings Drive-In on Facebook, the Salamone's say they have been looking to open a new Salamone's in that exact part of Rockford and will be "adding on to Bings and not tearing down."

They also plan to keep the new restaurant open year-round, but renovation and expansion of the property will keep them from opening in 2020.

The post concludes with the Salamone family saying they "look forward to 2021."
