Go ahead and take a short nap break at work because it's good for you.

I'm going to go ahead and say it. I'm a big fan of naps. I try to take one every day. It really helps me regain my energy.

My alarm clock goes off at 4am each weekend morning, so by lunchtime, I'm tired. When I try to go to bed early, I just toss and turn. To get by, I take an afternoon nap. My friends all make fun of me. They always ask if I got my nap in that day.

Think about it. How many times have been at work and just felt fatigued? Imagine if you could go out to your car and take a short nap. Don't you think you would feel better? Too bad the boss would never let that happen.

According to chicagotribune.com, that could change in the future.

Here's what researchers have found.

  • "Increasingly, science is siding with the nappers, with researchers finding that short sleep not only is beneficial to drowsy individuals but also are essential to public health, public safety, and economic productivity."
  • "A moderate nap in the afternoon coincided with improvements in people's thinking and memory prowess."
  • "Scientists found that people who took a nap after lunch did better on the mental agility tests than those who did not sleep in the middle of the day."

Who am I to argue with science. I totally agree. I always thought I was cutting edge with my napping.

Do you enjoy napping?
