Midway Village Museum Wants Our Help to Document COVID-19 History
This COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented, and nothing quite like this has ever been preserved in history before. Many of us have had to learn how to do our jobs from home, we've had to adapt or daily lifestyles to deal with all the change, and each of us has a unique story to tell.
This is exactly why Midway Village Museum is asking us to document our feelings, experiences, and "new norms" during the COVID-19 pandemic, and then share them with the museum so preserve this piece of "Rockford’s unique history".
A post on Midway Village Museum's Facebook says;
We’re asking you to share your stories and photographs of what you’re seeing and experiencing around Rockford during the COVID-19 pandemic. These first hand accounts will become part of Midway Village Museum’s permanent collection. Many years from now, your stories and memories will provide a historical perspective on how Rockford responded to the challenge we’re all currently facing.
Some of the questions Midway Village wants us to consider asking ourselves are:
- How is the COVID-19 pandemic impacting your everyday life?
- Are you a business owner in Rockford? Have you closed your doors or found ways to remain open?
- What do you want future generations of Rockfordians to know about this pandemic?
- For you, what is the most memorable aspect about the COVID-19 pandemic?
If you are willing to share your stories, please sent them to Midway Village's Assistant Curator, Kim Ortega, at collections@midwayvillage.com.
Stay home and stay safe, my friends!
