While the positive side of my brain is hoping Memorial Day weekend won't be a total wash out, the negative side is saying to make some indoor backup plans...just in case.

5 Things You Need to Do in Rockford This Memorial Day Weekend

There is a ton of family-friendly fun up for grabs in the Rockford area this Memorial Day weekend, and luckily a lot of these events are dependent on perfect weather.

You can kick things off Friday night at the Rockford City Market, (which happens rain or shine), and make plans to enjoy some donuts, pies, and slushies at Curran's Orchard which opens for the summer season on Friday, May 24.

Since Saturday appears to be the most decent day of the holiday weekend, take the family to check out the Miracle Mile Car Show from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Don Carter Lanes, and then head to downtown Byron for the Byron Firefighters' Kickoff to Summer Carnival!

On Memorial Day Monday, our number one job is to take a moment to honor the brave people who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and then go to parade.

If you love a good parade, the 2024 Rockford Memorial Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 27 at 7th Street, and travel to Beattie Park where a special Memorial Day Program will take place immediately following the parade.

Pecatonica will also be holding its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27 starting at 2 p.m. This parade is a BIG one, so make sure your kids bring bags for all the treats they will receive along the parade route!
