Maren Morris is currently up for five Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year, Pop Duo/Group Performance, Country Solo Performance, Country Duo/Group Performance and Country Song. But in a new interview with Taste of Country Nights, Morris admits that she never expected that many.

In fact, she thought one would be good.

“I thought, at the most, maybe I’d get one for ‘The Middle’ because that was the biggest song,” Morris tells Taste of Country Nights host Sam Alex. “But, to be nominated for ‘The Middle’ and ‘Dear Hate’ and my rendition of Elton John’s ‘Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters,’ those were super unexpected. It’s actually the most I’ve been nominated for in a year that I didn’t even put an album out, so I’m very grateful to the Grammy Foundation.”

Morris says that she is not only psyched to go to the Grammy ceremony in the first place, but also happy at the chance to spend the night with so many of her musical comrades.

“I’m super pumped that all my friends are nominated this time like John and TJ Osborne (Brothers Osborne) for (Best Country) Album, and Kacey (Musgraves),” says the ‘Rich' hitmaker.  “It’s just a great year for all my buddies that got nominated. I’m hoping that they seat us next to each other so we can hang out all night.”

Morris has a big year in store for 2019. She has just released a new single, "Girl," and announced her 2019 Girl: The World Tour dates. Cassadee Pope and RaeLynn will accompany the singer on the road in 2019 for an all-female tour.
