Well as of Tuesday, Showplace 14 in Machesney Park is one step closer to that happening.

Machesney Park trustees have voted unanimously to approve the sale of alcohol at Showplace 14.

Tim Savage, Machesney Park Village Administrator, says that as per the new movie theater liquor ordinance, AMC must now apply to sell alcohol. Savage expects their application within the next month. After AMC applies, the village board will then have to vote to approve an agreement.

If and/or when all is approved, Savage expects the sale of alcohol at Showplace 14 to start by this fall.

Rockford has yet to vote on whether or not Showplace 16 will also be approved to serve alcohol.
