The National Weather Service out of Chicago has issued a Thunderstorm Watch for the Rockford area and surrounding areas.

According to the US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois Facebook page a "Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for parts of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin until 10 PM CDT."

The forecast also lists scattered wind gusts of up to 70 MPH along with lime sized hail likely.

The storm is expected to impact over 13 million people and 4,000 schools.

The one thing I can't wrap my brain around is the "lime sized" hail that we are expecting to get tonight. If that's true, I recommend parking your car in your garage. However, if we do get hail that size, I'd be just as concerned for the roof of your garage along with the car inside.

Keep up with the rapidly moving storm using the National Weather Service Enhanced Radar.
