Rockford’s Only Peruvian Restaurant Just Closed and People Are Not Okay
Don't you hate it when a restaurant you've heard about for years, but haven't yet made it to, suddenly closes before you ever got to try it? I sure do, and right now I have no one to blame but myself.
Rockford's Only Peruvian Restaurant Closes
LimaMar Restaurant & Cocktail Bar, located at 221 E State St. in Downtown Rockford, opened in 2019 and specialized in authentic Peruvian dishes and trendy, hand-crafted cocktails...then they hit us with this news...
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of our restaurant after six years. After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close. Our last day of operation will be April 30th.Thank you, Rockford, for being a part of our LimaMar family for all these amazing years. Until we meet again, cherish the memories of your favorite cocktails and dishes. With love from the LimaMar crew
We may not know the reasons for the closure, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't due to a lack of restaurant fans. Here are some of the reactions to LimaMar's closing announcement on Facebook;
This makes us so sad. By far the best restaurant in Rockford with its unique food, and cocktails! Thank you for bringing a unique flavor to Rockford.

Will LimaMar Reopen Somewhere Else in Rockford?
Whenever I see that a locally-owned business is closing, the first question that comes to mind is; "will they reopen somewhere else?" Obviously, I'm not the only one who is asking that. Here's LimaMar's response...
To further our hope that this might not be the real end for LimaMar Restaurant & Cocktail Bar they gave us this "goodbye"...
LimaMar hasn't made any official announcements about what their future holds, but I can tell you both their website and Facebook are still offering catering services and cocktail and cooking classes. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
