Juvenile crime seems to be on the rise in the city, with the arrest of four teenagers over the weekend in two separate incidents.

According to a Rockford PD press release, officers responded to the 2200 block of Martha Avenue on Friday (March 28) just before 10 pm for reports of an armed robbery.

Armed Robbery of Pizza Delivery Driver

When RPD arrived on the scene, officers determined that a pizza delivery driver had been targeted in the robbery and quickly launched a search of the area with the assistance of a Winnebago County Sheriff K9 unit.

Law enforcement tracked down the suspects at a residence in the 2200 block of Lucille Street and arrested them.

SCOPE officers from the Rockford Police Department recovered evidence from the robbery at the residence, along with ammunition, according to the report.

Authorities arrested a 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, both from Rockford, charging them both with Aggravated Robbery.

The 17-year-old was also charged with Possession of a Firearm without a valid Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card. According to the press release, both teens were lodged in the juvenile detention center.

Vehicle Theft and Burglary Investigation

Just hours later, in a separate incident, two other teens were arrested for their involvement in a burglary.

According to a press release from the Rockford Police Department, officers responded to reports of burglaries to motor vehicles in the 4100 block of Laramie Drive around 12:25 am on Saturday (March 29).

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a running vehicle that was reported stolen earlier, along with two juvenile males from Rockford and burglary tools.

After reviewing the facts of the case, the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office approved charges of Burglary to a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Motor Vehicle for the 17-year-old male suspect. The 16-year-old was charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.

Both teens were lodged in the juvenile detention center when this story was published.
