A steakhouse couldn't get more 'underneath the radar' like this incredible restaurant inside a 19th century brick barn hidden down an alley.

Illinois' Most Fantastic Steakhouses

Creating that list would be so easy. The list would be long and filled with some of the most well-known brand names across the country. Often, those restaurants would be in trendy neighborhoods or inside a beautiful hotel.

The steakhouse you clicked to check out is NOT that kind of place. But it most definitely belongs on the list of amazing steak experiences in Illinois.

There's so much charm and flavor in those 'off the beaten path', 'hole in the wall', 'underneath the radar' family-owned restaurants.

I love how the steakhouse is described on their Facebook page,

"A meat-centric dining experience by Amy Morton, hidden away down an alley."

That's how I will be describing myself from here on out. I am meat-centric. which also means that every fiber of my being needs a table at this steakhouse tonight!

The Barn is owned by Amy Morton, whose last name is synonymous with great steaks. Amy is the daughter of Chicago-born restaurateur Arnie Morton — founder of Morton's Steakhouses.

I could write so much more about this place, but I'm getting hangry, so I'll let these pictures tell the next 1000 words.

The Barn Steakhouse is located in an alley that runs East-West parallel to Davis and Church and is accessible from Oak and Maple Streets in the heart of Evanston.

The restaurant can be a bit tricky to find. The Barn is a brick structure with an old green-blue barn door that is directly next to their front entrance.
