There are a lot of things people in Rockford will argue about.  Restaurants.  Roads.  The weather.  Now?  It might be a house rule you never thought was up for debate.

I'm not exaggerating when I say asking someone to take their shoes off at the door can shift the entire vibe of a party.  People have walked through parking lots, gas stations, grocery store bathrooms, stepped on someone's spit, and who knows what else.  The idea of that getting tracked across someone's clean carpet?  Yeah, no.

Some homeowners even warn guests ahead of time, just to avoid any awkward moments at the door.  Some hosts even provide slippers for you to wear!  That's what I'm talking about!

But not everyone sees it that way.

Spring Ahead: Here’s When We Change Our Clocks Forward

There are people out there who argue that if you're inviting people over, you shouldn't police what's on their feet.  Others say taking shows off feels too personal or uncomfortable.  A few in Rockford even admit they don't love the idea of walking around in socks, but they respect the homeowner's house rules.

And that's where the comment section starts to get good!

"Tell me your feet stink without telling me your feet stink. Lol. The guest is the jerk" - Elizabeth S.

"Its a private home, not a public space. If the lady cant take her shoes off for whatever reason, then she needs the shoe covers." - Melissa H.

"Not only are you bringing germs and dirt but it's also a sign of respect. You don't want dirt in your clean, restful, environment." - Rondi R.

At the end of the day, it really comes down to respect.  If you're the homeowner, you get to decide what happens past your front door.  If you're the guest, you decide whether it's a dealbreaker.

If we're being honest, nothing reveals someone's personality faster than how they react to, "No outdoor shoes in my house, sorry!"
