Heads Up, Illinois: Daylight Saving Time Ends Earlier This Year
While it may still feel like peak summer, mosquitoes thriving, lawn chairs still stuck in the yard, it’s time to talk about the annual ritual: messing with our clocks. And this year, Illinois, it's coming for us earlier than usual.
When Do We Change the Clocks in 2025?

Set your reminders, alarms, and 17 smart devices. On Sunday, November 2 at 2 a.m., we’ll “fall back” to 1 a.m., marking the end of Daylight Saving Time for 2025. That’s one day earlier than last year’s time shift. Because apparently, chaos loves variety.
What Happens When We Fall Back?
We gain an hour of sleep (yay) and lose our will to function by 5 p.m. (boo). By the first full week of November, Illinois sunsets will start feeling like the end of the world by dinner. Hope you enjoyed that 12 minutes of daylight while it lasted, Rockford.

Does Anyone Even Like This Time Change?
Not really. According to a recent Gallup poll, 54% of Americans want to ditch the twice-a-year clock switch altogether. Nearly half want standard time year-round, 24% prefer permanent daylight saving, and only 19% think things are fine just the way they are. Those 19% probably still microwave fish at work.
Will Illinois Ever Stop Changing Clocks?
Maybe someday. But for now, prep your microwave, reset your stove clock, and practice explaining to your dog why dinner is "technically not late."
