Wealthiest Suburbs In The US: 3 Illinois Burbs Make The List
You may be aware that Illinois has more than its share of flaws, and that those flaws are often mentioned whenever the topic of the state of Illinois comes up. High taxes, high prices, high unemployment, high outbound migration, corruption. You name it, we have it.
No matter what slings and arrows may be thrown at certain states, whether it's tax debates, politics, weather jokes, or cost-of-living complaints, there are always standout places that quietly thrive.
Illinois is no exception. While our state often gets painted with a broad brush, recent data from MoneyLion’s ranking of America’s wealthiest suburbs shows that Illinois is very much in the mix when it comes to affluent, high-demand communities.
Three Illinois Suburbs More Than Qualify For This Year's List
According to the MoneyLion list, three Illinois suburbs earned a spot among the nation’s top 10 wealthiest: Hinsdale, Winnetka, and Lake Forest.
These communities consistently rank among the most desirable places to live in the Midwest, known for their strong school systems, historic homes, lakefront beauty, and proximity to Chicago while still offering a quieter, more residential lifestyle.
Hinsdale leads the three Illinois spots, a western suburb known for its picturesque downtown and high median incomes.
On the North Shore, Winnetka stands out with its tree-lined streets and Lake Michigan shoreline, while Lake Forest brings a blend of historic estates, open space, and long-established affluence.
Together, they help reinforce the simple point that Illinois wealth is not just concentrated in Chicago itself. It radiates outward into some of the most exclusive suburban enclaves in the country.
