It's no secret that many parts of Missouri and Illinois need precipitation. One computer model shows that could happen and the current estimation is a combination of volatile storms and big rain on Halloween.

I want to emphasize that as of this writing, October 31 is still 10 days away which means these GFS computer models shared by Pivotal Weather can and likely will change. But, I've seen several meteorologists on YouTube pointing to Missouri and Illinois being in a "battle zone" (as Ryan Hall described it) between warm and cold air which means severe storms are possible.

Here's what the GFS shows for Missouri on October 31. Note that's an estimated more than 3 inches of rainfall.

The northern half of Illinois is also in the target region where these systems are expected to collide.

Here's Ryan Hall's description of what he thinks could happen on October 31 in the Midwestern region with Missouri and Illinois as the focal point.

As he mentioned, this is still too far out to know for sure, but both Missouri and Illinois do need the moisture. There are probably many who would prefer that it not drench Halloween, but we'll take the rain whenever we can get it.
