It's awesome to find a rare fish that's also endangered. It gets even better when that fish is only found under Missouri and that's exactly what happened recently.

Have you ever heard of the grotto sculpin? I hadn't either until I saw a new share on Facebook by the Missouri Department of Conservation about a rare find under the state quite literally - in a cave.

How rare is the Grotto Sculpin?

The Missouri Department of Conservation website says that this rare fish is so uncommon that it's only found in one cave system and that one cave system is only in Missouri.

What I've learned about this rare little fish is that it's ecosystem is so fragile, it needs a system like the Missouri caves which is more or less untouched by society to be able to survive.

The fact that the Missouri Department of Conservation just shared new information about these fascinating little fish which only exist in one cave system is crazy.
