ISP Trooper Leaves Heartwarming Note for Young Driver on Facebook

This is a reminder of the impact a quick interaction can have on another person's life. Most of us are aware of the challenges first responders endure on daily basis, especially in extreme weather. Specifically, the frigid temperatures can make law enforcement jobs especially difficult to perform. Not only are officers having to work in the extreme cold, but snow, ice, and drifting snow add even more danger to dealing with traffic accidents and traffic stops. In the midst of all this, a"= young driver in Champaign, Illinois shared a moment with an Illinois State Trooper that will be one of the most memorable moments of his career. Last night was a cold and busy night. I had handled a ton of calls. When I pulled up to the stoplight on Prospect Avenue I saw you wave for me to roll my window down. I was in a fully marked ISP squad car.

You proceeded to challenge me to a game of Rock Paper Scissors (to which I won). We both laughed and wished each other well the rest of the night. Although the air temperature was 1 degree with the windchill and the snow kept falling, blowing, and drifting, and I’d been outside working in the cold, that moment in time was also cool.

Your brief interaction made my day. Keep being awesome. It’s times like this that I’ll remember in my career.
