
Illinois, Wisconsin Schools Closed on Tuesday (2/18) Due to Dangerous Cold
Northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin are dealing with another polar vortex that's bringing dangerously cold wind chills to the region.
Life-Threatening Cold on Tuesday Morning
Feels-like temperatures are expected to plunge to -25 to -30 degrees below zero early Tuesday morning (2/18), which has the Stateline under a Cold Weather Advisory until noon on Tuesday.

Residents are warned of frostbite in as little as 30 minutes when exposed to these extremely cold temperatures. If you must be outside, wear multiple layers, and avoid any exposed skin.
Stay Safe and Warm
Make sure to take precautions when traveling during a Cold Weather Advisory by keeping an emergency kit in your vehicle, and keeping pets indoors or making sure they have warm shelter.
Some Area Schools Closing Due to Cold
With the bitter cold posing a serious risk to students who have to wait outside for the bus, several schools in Illinois and Wisconsin are announcing delays and closings for Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
SCHOOLS CLOSED ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18:
- Freeport School District 145 - CLOSED / Remote Learning Day
- South Beloit CUSD 320 - CLOSED
