Illinois, Wisconsin Gets Free Tacos on Tuesdays Until September 5
Now that the phrase "Taco Tuesday" can legally be used by more of our favorite tacos joints, one national chain is celebrating by giving away free tacos.
What Was the 'Taco Tuesday' Lawsuit About?
The Wyoming-based chain Taco John's reportedly owned the trademark rights "Taco Tuesday" since 1987 and Taco Bell argued with the U.S. Patent Office that "no one should have the rights to a common phrase."
Earlier this year (July 2023), Taco John's decided to fight for their trademark ownership saying they were "lovers, not fighters." The CEO of Taco John's said in an NPR interview that spending millions of dollars to keep the name "didn't feel like the right thing to do."
How Do I Get Free Tacos Every Tuesday Until September 5, 2023
According to its website, Taco Bell is honoring the "liberation of Taco Tuesday" by offering a Taco "Free-For-All" on Tuesdays through the 5th of September.

The offer is valid through the Taco Bell website on Tuesdays beginning today (8/15) through Tuesday, September 5 with "no purchase necessary," according to Taco Bell.
Limit one (1) Doritos® Locos Tacos per person, per offer day, at participating U.S. Taco Bell® locations only. Not available with delivery orders unless placed directly on the Taco Bell app.
