Two Illinois Teens Allegedly Steal 7 Vehicles in 48 Hours
There was a streak of car thefts around Rockford this past weekend that authorities believe two teenagers were involved with.

According to a press release from the Rockford Police Department, there were seven different vehicles were stolen between 7 a.m. on Friday (10/13) and 7 a.m. on Sunday (10/15). There were also three other reports of attempted auto thefts during that 48-hour period.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered in Rockford Alley
Four of the seven vehicles that were stolen in the weekend crime spree were recovered, one was located unoccupied in the alley in the 2100 block of Grant Avenue, according to Rockford PD.
Rockford Police officers identified two suspects for the alleged theft of that vehicle, a 16-year-old female and a 15-year-old male. They were located a short time later and taken into custody. -Rockford PD
The 15-year-old male who was allegedly involved in the auto thefts has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Criminal Damage to Property. He is currently being held in juvenile detention.

A 16-year-old female involved in the theft was charged with Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle and released.
Police Remind Residents to Lock Car Doors
With the increase in car break-ins and thefts, the Rockford Police Department reminds you to "lock your doors, park in a well-lit area, don’t leave valuables in plain view inside of your vehicle, and install an anti-theft device if possible."
