In honor of Women's History Month happening in March, the Illinois State Treasurer will host a celebration to honor trailblazing women in the state.

Treasurer Honors Women in Leadership, Business, and Community Service

Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs will welcome 8 women to the Illinois Room in Chicago for an event on Tuesday (3/4) to recognize these outstanding business and community service leaders.

According to the press release, this celebration not only highlights the individual achievements of these women, but also focuses on the overall progress toward equality and empowerment in Illinois.

Recognizing Excellence in Business

With a career dedicated to strategic consulting, Bukola Bello will receive the Outstanding Service in Business award at the event.

As the principal consultant at VISION M.A.I. Consulting, Bello has been instrumental in helping organizations pursue sustainable growth and innovation.

Leadership in Community Welfare

Kate Maehr is the Executive Director and CEO of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and under her leadership, the Depository has provided essential services for many residents facing food security around Chicago.

She will be honored for Outstanding Service in Leadership.

Commitment to Community Service

Lynne Chambers is the Founder and Executive Director of Legacy Training in Marion, Illinois, which empowers individuals through skill development and training, fostering community growth and resilience.

Chambers will be honored with the Outstanding Commitment to Community Service Award.

Advancements in Education

Dr. Rachael Marmood was the 2024 Illinois Teacher of the Year and is the Educational Consultant for the Indian Prairie School District in Aurora, Illinois.

She will be recognized with the Outstanding Commitment to Education award for her innovative teaching methods, and dedication to student success that have set new standards for excellence in education.

Distinguished Public Service

Serving the 29th District and acting as the Majority Caucus Whip, Illinois State Senator Julie Morrison will be honored for Outstanding Commitment as an Elected Official.

Senator Morrison's efforts have helped to significantly impact public policy, showing her dedication to the residents of Illinois.

Achievements in Workforce and Labor

Brandi Bradley is the Director of Government Relations at Ullico Inc., and will receive the Outstanding Achievement in Workforce and Labor award.
