Illinois State Fair Unveils their Unofficial Buttery Mascots
It's August and that means the Illinois State Fair is ready to roll.
To mark the occasion they unveiled their unofficial mascot or I should say mascots.
Move over Butter Cow 2016, this year it's Butter Cow and her calf for the 2017 season which opens this Thursday and runs through August 20th.
The artists behind this buttery creation are Sarah and Andy Pratt. According to NBCChicago, it took them two days and 500 pounds of unsalted butter to make this creation.
Holy cow! That is a lot of butter. Let alone working in it's greasiness for two days.
I don't know about you but I think if it were me, after creating that I wouldn't want to touch, see or eat butter ever again.
The Illinois State Fair has had a bovine butter creation as a centerpiece of the fair for over 90 years. The Butter Cow the fair officials say is the "most visited and photographed exhibit" at the fair every year. For more information about the fair and the Butter Cow click here.
